So here I am on my study break… studying and wishing my break wasn’t so dam long – what’s wrong with me :(
Been doing some online certificates such as W3Schools and NCSA to pass the time and try and beef up my resume a tad. Got distracted while studying for a PHP certificate and found this humorous video regarding the Java-.NET funnies.
Was at the shops earlier today, looking for any end of year specials.. my god it was scary. Ended up going food shopping so that I didn’t feel bad for not buying anything. Saw so many shirts I wanted, reminded me of some of the great shirts out there.
So who’s excited for Half-Life Episode 3.. me! Ok it feels like a Duke Nukem 4-never, but to pass the time we have an unique video for Portal 2!
Any Firefly fans out there? Anyone who said no can fuck off now.. it’s the best show EVER. Another one of Fox’s biggest blunders letting this get cancelled – Whedon at his best. Was browsing Things From Another World (check it out, it’s a comic-nerd haven) and found a novel detailing Books back story.. like OMG~
I just had a very enjoyable 3 hours.. playing.. THIS! For those of you who aren’t adept in reading Steam URL’s by their ID, it’s Safe Cracker. Think puzzles, driven by a pathetic story. It remind’s me a lot of 7th Guest and it’s sequence 11th Hour (the 4 CD’s are within arm’s reach of my desk!). Having missed my dead line for dinner I cracked open a few cold ones and ploughed through this bad boy – a lot of fun if you like puzzles. It’s very well priced at $5 on Steam, and if you get it within the next week or so it’s half price.. bargain.
Thanks BP

The most viewed video on youtube.. seriously?
Nifty song, thanks Zee
First five minutes is GOLD
Anyone been following Civilisation 5? If not, you should be! Civ has got to be one of the most successfully games around, I remember picking up the original in 91 or 92. The latest incarnation is due out the end of this year – check out some info and a trailer here.
Is it worth it? Probably not.
Am I going to do it. Yes.
Why? Because my winter unit doesn’t start for another few weeks and I took this year off to get qualifications like my degree!
Which? HTML, XML and PHP
Cost? 3×80 = 240 .. EEK.
Up until 5 minutes in I was so excited it hurt… The teaser then goes on to mention a certain tournament and reality kicked in. I was hoping for a SyFy style revamp, however this looks entertaining.
Interesting video (warning: 10 minutes long) about time perspectives and how it affects us by RSA Animate – have see a few interesting presentations from them lately, similar to TED in a sense.
Hah this made me smile:

The world of electronics is about to make a dramatic change in the next 5 to 10 years I think. The following two articles talk about flexible OLED’s (a lot of chatter about transparant displays as well) and the main stream adoption of optics – Light Peak for example.
As Frank Reynolds would say, because poop is funny!
This is for my brother, was at dinner with him a few hours ago trying to describe this video and got some appalling looks from my family, friends and of course strangers. I’m not sure how people would actually be brave enough to do this in a work place, perhaps with a close group of guys. It’s definitely on my list of stupid things that I just have to do once.. or twice.. a few times before I die. Think of it as a warped bucket list.
As a side note, if you’ve never seen the US version of The Office.. do it! I’m a huge BBC fan (the whole English thing) however I much prefer the US one. There are a number of classic office pranks that get played, typically from Jim to Dwigth – a collection can be found below. My favourite of all is where Jim tells a story about weighting a phone with penny’s everyday until one day he removes them all and Dwight knocks himself out by assuming the phone will be heavy .. HAH have to see it.
I only ever tried this on my uncle a couple of years ago, and it took him a good 24 hours before I got an SMS filled with h’s and a’s.
Got an exam tomorrow, luckily the gods have found pity on me and all my exams are in the afternoon. It’s always interesting to see how students will spend 20-50 hours working on an assignment worth 20% of the year but an exam worth 50% typically gets no more than 5-10 hours of study and preparation. Will we ever learn?
If you are not familiar with Mirrors Edge, check out the wiki page – essentially its a computer game where you play a courier who utilises ‘free runs’ all over the city. Pretty cool idea, visuals are great.. however after an hour or so it becomes tedious.
Check out AZO’s version below – if you enjoy it, check out the other videos by AZO, he often creates a show reel each year.
Fact: Sébastien Foucan one of the founders of parkour was in the opening James Bond sequence: Casino Royale.
